Russian Students in “Duyên dáng Áo dài Việt 2019” Contest
In February 2019, Ekaterina Muralova and Anna Dolinina from Lomonosov University, Russia, came to Ton Duc Thang University’s Center for Vietnamese Studies and Language, to study Vietnamese and for cultural exchange.
These two students shared a love for Vietnam and the Vietnamese ‘ao dai’, and so together with the guidance of the teachers of the Center, they took part in the “Duyên dáng Áo dài Việt 2019” competition, organized by the Labour and Culture Centre, Ho Chi Minh City, and Tri Tâm Media Technology and Tourism Ltd. It was a chance for them to learn from the outside environment.
After several rounds of competition, Ekaterina Muralova and Anna Dolinina had outperformed almost 1000 others to reach the Finals, in which they competed against 40 contestants. The Finals were held during a Gala Night on May 12th, 2019.
The final results saw Dolinina in the top 42 of the contest. Ekaterina, having given her answer in fluent Vietnamese, was 2nd runner-up in the contest. This was the result of a two-month continuous effort from these two students.
During the contest, in a camping and charity tour in Mũi Né, BìnhThuận Province, their love deepened for the language, the culture and people of Vietnam, and especially for the Vietnamese ‘áo dài’ – the soul of Vietnam. They want to help preserve this cultural identity of the Vietnamese people forever.
