Following the Immersion programs held annually under the cooperation agreement between the Center for Vietnamese Studies and Language, Ton Duc Thang University and the Risumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), the Center for Vietnamese Studies and Language continued to implement the Summer Vietnamese Immersion Program-2021 for APU students from August 9 th, 2021 to September 3rd, 2021. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, this Vietnamese Immersion Program was held online instead of onsite at Tan Phong campus of Ton Duc Thang University as before.
There were 6 APU students who came from Japan (3), Korea (2) and Australia (1), participated in the program. Students are provided with knowledge and practice of four Vietnamese language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) at the average level of level 1 (A1) according to the Vietnamese Language Competency Framework for Foreigners issued by Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training. Along with learning the language, students also learnt about Vietnamese culture in general and Vietnamese culinary culture in particular under two interesting seminars. During the program, APU students were also very excited when they had the opportunity to exchange with students of Ton Duc Thang University through online Language Partner activities.
After 4 weeks of experiencing the Online Immersion Vietnamese Program, 6/6 APU students completed the program with good results and were eligible to receive the Certificate of Completion of Summer Vietnamese Immersion Program-2021.
